Dr. Scott Burrus’s varied background in applied psychology includes spending time as a substance use counselor, personal development coach, higher education leader, and social policy researcher. Scott has experience in various leadership roles and most recently as a provost and chief academic officer. He has overseen colleges of business and technology management, education, the marriage and family sciences, nursing and health science, and psychology.
 
Dr. Burrus has over two decades of experience in for-profit, nonprofit, and governmental organizations, performing student mentoring, faculty training, and facilitating best-practice-based outcomes. Dr. Burrus’s background in educational and social policy research has focused on online education, child abuse prevention, early childhood education, program development in schools, substance use prevention and treatment, child welfare policy, juvenile justice, and cost study applications. He has worked on over twenty publicly and privately funded research studies and has managed millions of dollars in grant funding that resulted in over fifty publications and conference presentations.
 
Scott is the owner and lead coach at Empower Wellness in Los Angeles and a partner at DeeplyWell.com, a health and wellness consulting company that aims to facilitate the transition from chaos to miraculous in all areas of life.
